Pathways to primary school
Presented By: Taylor Heads - 23 Jul, Auckland
Venue: Novotel Ellerslie, 72-112 Green Lane East, Ellerslie
As we know, it is common for tamariki to go to school once they are five. In contrast it is uncommon for tamariki to have the same experience of going to school as their peers. Tamariki create different pathways at different paces when getting amongst all the ‘preparing’ for school. One size does not fit all. Therefore as kaiako, it is fundamental that we provide opportunities for tamariki where they can engage their minds in a tailored programme that empowers and promotes the development of essential life skills such as self-regulation, social, communication and self-care skills. Providing tamariki with these opportunities, tools and strategies, will help create a positive and successful pathway to school. This workshop will focus on what a successful pathway to school can be and look like, engaging their minds in an older programme within Te Whariki and self-regulation.
